I love working on the computer and I put together a powerpoint with the names of God. I couldn't load up the powerpoint, but I could load up the pictures. Anyone is welcome to to take a look. They're on my profile. They help me remember that God is everything that I could possibly need. Hope they are a blessing to you!!! RIC

My daughter is doing much better. Thanks for asking. As long as she falls asleep at a decent time she's doesnt have any episodes. Her body is kindof getting used to going to sleep around a certain time but I'm a little nervous when she sleeps over at someone else's home. There's no guarantee what time she goes to sleep, so she really hasn't slept over anywhere.
My kids have one more week off. They are eating me out of house and home!!! They're ready to start school and as much as I love being around them, Im ready for them to start.
Any ideas about how I can get my older daughter to enjoy reading and writing more. My two youngest ones love reading, but trying to get the oldest to read is like pulling teeth!!
She's a little behind in school and she doesnt make really good choices like a 11 year old does. One time we caught her juggling raw eggs in her room.
Im wondering if that's because of her seizures. Im lost!! This is my first time going this age with a child. Does anyone else have any crazy stories about that age?

LBG, how is your daughter doing? My middle child is the one who has had trouble falling asleep. When he was a baby, he could outlast me. I can remember looking at him blearyeyed and just praying he would close his eyes LOL
Well, we've made it through 2 weeks of school. Yippee. Although I must admit by the end of week one, I was planning how to redeocorate their rooms. LOL I was ready for them to go! The 2 youngest had homework but they wanted to play so they would sit at the table and refuse to do their homework or do it wrong..... I guess they thought I would give in. So now the rule is no going outside on the weekdays. Last week was a little better...

How frightening! You might want to ask your doctor about using it.
So far it's been working for my daughter. It makes her sleepy enough to fall asleep, but won't keep her asleep. If your daughter has problems in that area.
I pray your daughter outgrows this. I developed a seizure disorder as an adult.

My girls are in school. I was asking about the melatonin becausemy daughter is 11 and just recently this year she's had a couple of seizures. When I took her to the doctor they diagnosed her with having what is called benign seizures. They said some girls have it in preadolescence. They're not sure why it comes, but they said it leaves just as mysterious as it comes. They didnt put her on any medication, because the seizures are brought on by not enough sleep and as long as she gets enough sleep she's ok. So, we put her to bed by 8:30 no later than 9:00. Because she's 11 (almost 12) sometimes that could be quite

Welcome LovedbyGod! Glad to have you here.
I have 2 daughters myself. They can be a handful at times.
Melatonin is a natural hormone in humans (other animals too I believe) that helps to induce sleep. Some people have more or less than others. My daughter has less and needs help in that area. So far so good.
Are your children in school or do you homeschool?

Hello everyone. This is my first time here. I have 3 girls, ages 12, 8, and 7. Hope to get some wisdom on raising children (especially girls
) here. Sometimes my girls can be pretty interesting!! But I thank God for them. They truly are a blessing. CarpentersWife, what is melatonin?
Talk to you soon!!

My oldest has had sleep issues since she was a little one. I talked to her pediatrician last week, since we were in for her physical for school. She's now taking melatonin. So far now - 2 days - she's been able to fall asleep better. Before it would take her up to 2 hours to fall asleep.
I'm hoping this will regulate her body clock before school starts.
Otherwise the Doc wants to do a sleep study.
How is your week going Newgirl? I know it's only Wednesday.... Praying!!!

I'm dealing with the same bedtime issues now. My boys go back on August 11 and now they stay up late and like to sleep as late as possible. I need to get a routine established as well because I know that first week will be hard, but I am not having much success. BTW, I hate this time of the year, too. To me, school is just more stress!!!! I don't know that I manage the new school year very well at all. It's usually chaos, but I am praying that this year will be better. RIC

Well, it's August.
Time for me to start thinking about school starting.
We've been pretty lax about bed times around here. I need to start getting a schedule in place for the school year. Not sure when to begin. 2 weeks before school starts? With bedtime & waking routines? I hate this time of year. I really wish I could keep them home all the time. Except that my oldest & I butt heads all the time.
How does everyone else manage their new school year?

Hang in there Jackie! I'm praying for you. Like Michele said, kids need and really do long for discipline.
I too didn't like my parents rules when I was growing up but so appreciate them now.
Newgirl, I got a chuckle out of the canned biscuits! I sent my 7 yo down to get laundry out of the dryer. She's been my helper for years. She called from the basement "Which ones the dryer????" I about hit the floor! But again, she's just 7. I have to keep training them.
I secretly yearn for the time when they do the laundry..... Ok, I can dream right?
