Cashmere, you are so right. It is so easy to get bogged down in the past that you don't take advantage of the freedom you have in Christ.  Thanks for posting. That was just what I needed to hear. RIC

I love working on the computer and I put together a powerpoint with the names of God.  I couldn't load up the powerpoint, but I could load up the pictures.  Anyone is welcome to to take a look.  They're on my profile. They help me remember that God is everything that I could possibly need.  Hope they are a blessing to you!!! Do I live free? That is something I have been thinking about in one form or another for several weeks. Even though I am a Christian I have allowed betrayal, hurts, thinking that God is not "fixing" things, etc... over the last 24 years to take it's toll on me & become angry with God. That is not living in His freedom. It has kept me feeling chained in a dungeon. As a result I am seeing the results of my thinking being manifested in my 21 year old son. My heart breaks because I know I have had such a huge impact on his thinking. But I am fianlly realizing what God's love is really like & to trust it.  I am learning how to forgive, now I just have to forgive myself. I am finally allowing God to free me from all the past pain & to learn to love. There is freedom in that kind of life. Thank you for the reminder that there is no condemnation from God only His forgiveness & freedom.  RIC

Don't ya just love when God illuminates a verse or two that you know that, in a lifetime of faith, you have read, but it just is emphasized at the right time??!! I read the Bible through every other year (I have the cool version that has OT, NT, Psalm and Proverbs every day-keeps me from getting bogged down in something like Chronicles..haha!) and I just read a passage a couple of days ago that I think will be post-it noted everywhere-at home, work, in my car-on my sweet husband's forehead!! It is 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. The NLT reads: Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.

I love it! At a time when the world seems out of control, my company has made some poor decisions and with all the kicking that I have taken as a Christian because of my conservative political beliefs-I just needed this. Perhaps you do, too!

Blessings to you! Karen

hello. believing that jesus christ is my personal savior and reflecting all that he has done in my life makes me want to always rise up to walking closer with himsmiley-innocent i, too am very hard on myself, and have to be careful in discerning what is the truth and not believe the "father of lies, satan". one of my favorite scriptures is, 2corinthians 12:9, "my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness".

I think for my own life, I know about being free in Christ, but I have to remind myself of this freedom. I tend to get caught up in guilt over actions, and even when I repent, I have to watch myself to make sure I know I am forgiven.  I tend to be hard on myself.  One of my favorite verses states that Christ predestined those who believe to be holy and blameless in his sight.  I love that to know I am holy and blameless in his sight even in spite of myself! Hello ladies!  I am so sorry for not being on in a long time.  I will honestly try to do better. New topic:  Do we live free?  Are you walking in the freedom of Christ?

Romans 8:1-2 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ has made me free from the law of sin and death."

Through the death of Christ we are free from sin, it no longer rules our lives.  We are no longer to slaves to Satan.  But we have to walk with Christ in faith to claim our freedom.  A life in sin is never a peaceful life, the sin will take hold of our lives and get a foothold on us to keep us bound up in misery and emptiness.  But if we accept Christ in our life, and live according to His Word we live like victors. "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am presuaded that neither death, nor life nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor heighth nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to seperate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:37-39

Hello all! This is my first time in this group.  With the subject on heaven.  Someone at our church just spoke on it from Rev. (I think it was 2 or 3)  It was one of those early chapters that paint a picture of what heaven is like.  With God sitting on the throne and a rainbow around the throne.  By the time he finished my mouth was wide open!!  It sounded amazing.  If you would like to listen to it you can go on eastbrookchurch.org and listen to the sermon by Bill Connor in July.

Talk to you Soon!

I have read books on this subject so I will repeat what I have read that makes sense to me (even though I in no way know for sure)  When you die, your "spirit" goes to heaven to be with Jesus and you live with Christ, then on Judgment Day your new body is resurrected.  When my father died, I believe his spirit went to heaven and later on will be reunited with his new body.

I used to think we were in a resting state until I read this book called Heaven and it talked alot about it. Jesus says to the robber on the cross., This Day you will be with me in paradise. So I think he meant right now.  I am by no means an expert, and if you want to read further, check out that book or there are probably lots of internet sites that talk about it.

I have a question, this is just something I have been wondering for the past year sense my Mom has passed away.

Do we really meet Christ when we die, do we really go to heaven right then and there, or is there a resting place we go to that we are just like in a sleeping state.

I am confused on this as the bible states we all stand judgement on the same day, so if we die, how can we go to be with the lord and our loved ones? I am sure that if we did not live for the lord we would not be going there, and from what I read in the bible I am thinking that Hell is right here on earth.

Hello Ladies ~ I hope everyone is well! I am an agreement with you's on leading a life toward Christ. I have a friend right now who I would like you to pray for. Her name is Giney! She is trying so hard to lead a life for Christ but at the same time is not making no time for Him! Does that make sense? It is as though she knows what she needs to do but is not doing it or not putting the faith and trust she needs there! Please pray for her! Thanks Bonnie RIC

Jackie I so agree with you.  I believe if your not following Christ you are living a pointless life, heading nowhere.  There is a emptiness in everyone who has not made Christ apart of their lives.  We are empty without Him.  I believe this is also why there is a lot of depression among Christians because we know how wonderful it is to be in God's will and His perfect peace, which I don't think we ever lose completely we just cover it with lifes stresses, but when we drift even just a little from Christ and His will we begin to feel an emptyness and with the Spirit we know something is missing. It is conviction, and it can hurt, but without it how would we know where to turn.  RIC
