not sure if this group is still active or not, but wanted to give my 2 cents!  2 of my favorite books are 'The Seat Beside Me" by Nancy Moser, and "Deadline" by Randy Alcorn.  Both of these stories hit me really hard and satisfied what I was looking for when I started reading Christian fiction.  Deadline is probably my favorite book of all time.  It's a murder mystery as the main character investigates the murders of his 2 friends, but it is more of a "life mystery" as he unintentionally begins to look into the faith of one of those friends. As a Christian, you can't help but cheer him on and hope that he finds truth!  It also gives the reader a glimpse of what Heaven might be like, as well as a small sight of Hell.  His follow up book, "Dominion" is also very good, and I actually prefer the vision of heaven he gives in this book over Deadline. Hello everyone.

I am 26 years old and love the life Christ has given me!! I LOVE reading - wish I could get paid to just curl up with a good one all day. I am also in the book club at my work. My favorite genres are biblical or historical fiction. One of my favorite authors is Marek Halter. I also love Joyce Meyer and other Christian devotional/inspirational books. I would love to share good suggestions with others :)

I work for an online military university. My passion is for the military. I adopt deployed soldiers to take care of their needs, and have made several good friends through the process. The Lord has really blessed me in that area!

 I hope all of you are having a blessed day, and I would love to hear from some of you!!

Hello fellow Readers! I would rather read than .... I was going to sayEAT but then I thought- "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNooooo you dont!" so I would rather read than.... clean.  One of my faves is Karen Kingsbury- her Redemption series is one of the best I have ever read. I also can't get enough  Tracie Peterson, Lori Wick, Kristen Heitzman, Francine Rivers, Andrea Boeshaar.Terri Blackstock, Wanda Brunstetter, Beverly Lewis,just to name a few! Would love to discuss any of these authors and books. RIC

Hi All!  I have just found the groups on here and am writing my first post!  I am 28 from Doylestown PA, work full time (and then some) as an executive assistant, am owned by two dogs but try to get as much time as I can to read.  As a new christian, I have devoured women's christian living books such as Elizabeth George's books, Joyce Meyers, and others like Denise Jackson's Its All About Him.  Any other good ones I should be on the lookout for?  RIC

I've read "and the Shofar Blew" and also thought it was wonderful as are all of Francine River's books. I think she is the most inspirational christian fiction author out there. "Redeeming Love" and "Leota's Garden" are probably my favorites. Have you read them? RIC

Rebecca's Garden, I have read several of the Yada  Yada Prayer group books. They are good,but I liked Denise Hildreth's writing better.  I've never read any of  Mary Kay Andrew's books. I've gotten wary of trying secular authors because sometimes there is just too much smut for me. A few colorful words I can get past. So, I will try her. What book would you recommend?

A secular author I have always liked is Maeve Binchy. Have you ever read any of her books?

I did read one of the Mitford series books but I just couldn't get into them. I don't really know why. I think I may have gotten a mid series book and wasn't able to follow the characters or something.

Serenity, have you read any of the Yada Yada Prayer Group books?  I have not, but I've looked at them a couple of times.  I hear they are really good, and online there are some good reviews of that series.  I get the feeling there are humorous moments on those books as well. 

I'm not aware of any other Christian fiction that is similar to Denise Hildreth's writing style.  I'd love to know if there is another author out there like her.

I do like Mary Kay Andrews' books as well.  Of course, she is a secular author, and occasionally in her books, the characters' language can get a little "colorful."  But if you can get past the little bit of colorful language, her books are a hoot.  I've laughed until I've cried reading her books.

I also like the Mitford series by Jan Karon.

Hi Rebecca's garden, it is nice to meet a fellow Denise Hildreth fan.  They were exceptionally good books and so fun to read . I hope she'll write more soon. Do you know of  another author with similar writing syle? Sometimes you just need a good "fun" read. 

When I read Flies on the Butter I missed Savannah whenI first started reading, and although it was a more "serious" style she is an awesome author. I'll read anything she'll write!!

I just finished Flies on the Butter last week.  I liked it!  I read it in a couple of days.  You are right, it was very different than the Savannah books, much more serious I think.

I may be wrong, but I think the Savannah books and Flies on the Butter are the only books she has written.  Flies just came out this past spring I think.  I hope she will write more.

I also discovered Denise Hildreth's books and loved the Savannah series. It actually made me laugh out loud which is rare for me when reading. I wish she'd write more! Rebecca's garden, I did find a 4th book by her I believe it was called "Flies in the Butter" It was totally different from the Savannah series but equally as good. Have you found anything else by her? RIC

I'm glad I found this group.  I"m an avid reader and enjoy Christian fiction as well as educator/self help/christian living type books too.  I also read secular books as well.

Patti, if you are interested in starting out with some light, funny, chic-lit type of christian fiction, I highly recommend Denise Hildreth's Savannah books.  There is a series of three, about a young lady named Savannah.  She is a hoot!  And has a heart for God.

I love Beth Moore and Max Lucado for christian living application type books.

I just found this group and  wanted to respond to Patti. I've been a Christian for some time and have read a lot of Christian books.  Christian fiction has been my favorite for the past couple of years. My favorite Christian authors are Francine Rivers and Karen Kingsbury. Redeeming love by Francine Rivers is awesome.

Good Christian educator/self help type authors are Charles Stanley and beth Moore. good luck and Happy Reading/

I like the twilight series too. It's good but i haven't had a lot of time to read. School starts soon...grrr....that'll take away from my reading. Oh well RIC
