Get out of the boat!

Group Leader: goenup

Group Description

There were people on the shore that day who did not know Jesus, there were people in the boat "Disciples" that knew Jesus and had seen what He could do, then there was Peter...he was in the boat yes, but he got out of the boat! There are only 2 people in the bible that have felt water beneath their feet...Jesus and Peter. Well Peter did slip when he took his eyes off of Jesus, but Jesus raised him back up. I want to be that "disciple"...I want to feel what it is like to walk on water, I may only take 3 steps and fall, but Christ will raise me up...then I will take 5 then maybe only 2 or maybe 10, but by the end of my life I will be walking on the water with Jesus daily and satan will be rotting behind me. So I challange you to talk it up in this group, dive into Gods word...either get off the shore and into the boat...or get outta the boat and walk on water. The choice is yours.:) RIC

VERY URGENT MESSAGE REGARDING A PETITION AGAINST ABORTION (TAKING A STAND FOR AMERICA AND GOD)

Pastor Rod Parsley's Breakthrough Ministry has announced a toll free number to call to petition against abortion, especially the effort the liberals ("satanists") are making to legalize partial birth abortions. While I was watching this broadcast, and Pastor Rod was interviewing U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, THE AUDIO WAS TOTALLY MUTED OUT AND THE BROADCAST WAS JAMMED !
I immediately called the ministry and was told that this interview will be on their website in the near future, and I encouraged them that I would announce the petition to all my brothers and sisters in Christ so we, through solidarity in the family of God,can and will make a difference IN JESUS' NAME.
Call 1(800)942-1974 to sign the petition by phone or visit http://www.rodparsley.com.
It is written: "One can chase a thousand; two can put ten thousand to flight."
In His Service,
Rev Dr Jimmy Blank, D.D.
Pastor; Family of Faith Fellowships Ministries International

Hello Everyone!

I am new to the group and I love what it's called. I love growing and moving forward even when it seems a little scarey. I'm so glad to have found a group to "walk on the water" with!

I look forward to getting to know you!

Do you intentionally pray with expectation, that the Lord will answer? According to His timing, His will, His way. Or, do you pray that maybe He will answer the way you want Him to?

If the later is you, rethink about it. He doesnt bend to our will, we bend to His. Remember bending at the knees.

Just something to think about. God has really been showing me alot lately. AndiGump

hey friends, Tomorrow I start a volunteer job at a Christian School in the office. There are lots of things I will need to learn and then when the students arrive on the 27th I will have many more new names + faces to recognize. I would appreciate your prayers as I step out on this new adventure. A:)

I am so amazed, and shouldnt be, by the things God does in, through and for others. by daily hearing "His"stories, through the lives of people, of all walks of life.

I am a Christian of 10 yrs. it took the murder/mutilation of my motherinlaw to bring me back to true salvation of the Savior. It was 2 yrs ago, my grandson's birth, exactly 8 yrs to the date of my motherinlaw's murder, to make God my Lord.  You are wondering why? Why, 8 yrs. without the LORD of my life. He was saving me, from many things. Myself for the most part. I no longer look to myself in self pity,it is what He wants.

I learned through the trauma of the birth of my grandson to grieve for others. He was born not breathing, brain bleed, brain seizure. I asked the doctor's to give us the worst case scenerio, they did. Oh, that is what I came home, grieving it all out to God. On my knees, literally, begging ,willing it to be me finally, asking for His will. And now two years later I am praising God for making my grandson healthy. There maybe some delays. I dont care. God breathed life into him and will do His will for the future of this young man. Oh, the preciousness of life. Anyone's life. IT IS A GIFT. If you want to hear more of what God is doing in the GIFT of my life, just ask. I love to share all the goodness and mercy He bestows on me. But most importantly, He is now the Lord of my life.  Your sis and His, Andigump

Hi all! Remember in walking, and I am not a math whiz, 3 steps forward and 2 steps back is still progress. and this is me talking after falling and breaking my left hand. I am still moving forward in my walk with Christ. His Grace is sufficient! RIC

I am so glad I found this group! God is asking me to get out of the boat right now.  He wants me to write a book and I am happy to say He is opening doors for me.  I get discouraged though, when the words won't come or won't come out right.

By the way, have any of you read John Ortberg's book, If You Want to Walk on Water You Have to Get Out of the Boat?  It's a great read and talks exactly about what this group is about.

I covet your prayers as I am stepping out in faith on this.

I am glad to see this group.  I am a Christian who is needing to re-dedicate or re-focus my spiritual life.  I feel that I have allowed the secular world to "sway" my thinking and my beliefs.  I have gotten away from my daily Bible study and prayer time.  I walk daily before work and I am now using this time to reconnect with God.  I struggle some days to keep my focus on Him and not allow the random thoughts of my mind or life's problems to take over my time with Him.  That is a real struggle right now.

After reading some of your comments, I feel I am an "infant" as far as my spirtual walk.  I believe God is trying to work something out in my life right now.  I am not sure what but I am willing to listen and find out what it is.

This has been a year of change for me.  I just turned 40.  My only daughter and my buddy is going away to college in August.  I just started a new job.  And, now I believe it is time to make some spiritual-life changes.

Is anyone else going through anything similar to this?  Or, has anyone experienced this in your walk with God?  It is a little scary.

I love these little comments! I was like Peter at one point in my life! I was walking quit well on the water focused and everything! Until the waves came in! I also stopped focusing on Jesus and sunk deeper and deeper into a pit of emtpiness, depression, and despair like you wouldn't believe! The waves came in like gigantic tidal waves! Then I felt Jesus Reach way down into the depth of my soul and He pulled me out! Which I believe was answered prayers from all my brothers and sisters in Him!! I am still in the middle of these gigantic waves But this time with continued prayers I will not take my Eyes off of HIM!! I'm still walking ON the WATER!! Thank You JESUS!! RIC

It's interesting that you named your group "Get out of the boat," because while I was in college, my pastor preached an entire message about living by faith and getting out of our comfort zone (or the boat) and getting to where we could reach people. It's such a challenging thing and something that's very hard for most of us, but we have to have faith that Christ will do what He has promised and will help us through each day, He will show us exactly how to do His will for us despite our immaturity and our lack of faith at times. I hope that people here get to that point where we can completely walk by faith! RIC

One thing about that...hearing God's voice is deffinatly audiable..and it is through you. Think about it the Kindgdom of God is within you as the Word says...so Christ is in YOU...so you need to speak God's infallaiable word to your children that is how God gets things done now is through us...remember on the 7th day He rested...then later sent His Son...then Later His son sent us the Holy Spirit...now God works through us. People always complain about the world we live in....simply it angers me...it is the way it is becuase we are not acting and handling this world as God would...THAT is why we are here.:) RIC

Yes I do have kiddos I have 3...here is what I would say to you. In Matthew we learn to PRAY BELIEVE and RECIEVE..basically we are told to pray and beleive that you already have it. If you act or him-ha around and DOUBT God then why should you get it? Also...remember Peter, He got outta the boat..and took steps then when He took his eyes off Jesus he began to sink...one step back don't ya think? REMEMBER though...He reached out and Jesus helped him, keep the FAITH...walk on the water if you start to sink...refocus on HIM...and take more steps. Its okay to have a fall back, but EDURANCE as Paul speaks of is what is needed, just keep going. Holiness is always doing the next right thing....just slow down enough to make the right choice:) RIC
