This isn't really open source, but it's free, and would be a great option for Churches.

I don't personally edit and redistribute open source software, but I like to keep up with what's going on in the community. Check out http://sourceforge.net/softwaremap/ for a user-friendly directory of good open source applications. RIC

Do you ever do any alterations to open source software? And do you know of any websites that list a lot of downloads to open source projects? RIC

We've got to start off this group with the most relevant open source project, OpenOffice. This free office suite was developed to be an alternative to Microsoft Office. Although it lacks many of the features of Office, it's definitely a great option for the home user. Check it out at: www.openoffice.org RIC
